I have this great idea but in the process i found that what i wanted to patent had already been patented. Now to go on with this product i need that patent. What are the procedures i need to take to gain the patent and avoid the company turning me down or even taking my idea to the market.

He is 10 years old. He wants to run his own business when he gets older. He is very responsible and has a great deal of skills that it would take. I just have no idea where to start.
