What Do I Need To Open A Guns & Ammo Business?

What equipment and licenses/fees would I need to start my own Guns & Ammo supplies company?
I was thinking that since there seems to be a shortage of ammunition (at least in Ohio), and ammo is becoming more and more expensive, I could create a reloading company (like Doubletap Ammunition), and probably make decent money (I’ve always wanted to be an entreprenuer). Does anybody know what all I need to start?

    Hey Chris..
You know you can always send me a private E-mail and I can help you with this since this is what I do, I can also hook you up with some of my suppliers but first you need to get a Bussines license “not a hard thing to do to” then you have to wait and they will mail you out you license it will have a state tax id # and that is what they use, you have to keep track of what you buy and what you sell and the cost, re-sale price and profit,”dont forget to charge tax!!.. as far as making money on reloads dont bother there is no money in it, unless you get in good at a range and get a reputation for accurate handloads “winning handloads”, then you can load for people and charge a premium price $2+ per round pending on caliber.
Good reloading usually requires loading one round at a time not a progressive press, although there are some that are good $600+ range.. good accurace comes from controlled single loads,
here is a quick over view of making accurate ammo.
    ——–BRASS————–
sort brass by weight and/or internal volume
    trim neck
    deburr case mouth
    size neck
    turn neck
    uniform flash hole
    uniform primer pocket depth
A MINI LATHE WILL HELP WITH CASE WORK check out
    “varmint al.com”
    ——–BULLETS———–
    sort by weight
    length
Get a point die that will uniform the bullet ogive and close the hollow point found on most match bullets “i.e. sierra match kings.”
a light tumble before showing off your ammo will make it look good and shinny!!..
Buy powder in 8lb tubs develope a good load but when you get your next tub the mix may be a little different esp, with alliant which use a double base powder, and you may need to vary the load .2-.5 grains per different batch of powder as the mix may be slightly different, if you find a good load with a powder try to go back where you got the powder and buy all you can from that lot of powder!!!.
FINALLY MY BEST ADVICE GO TO 6MMBR.COM THEY ARE AWSOME OVER THERE AND MORE THAN WILLING TO HELP!!!!
if you need any more advice or help drop me a msg, I am always happy to help a friend…

Are you talking about making ammunition?
You’d need a manufacturer’s license from BATFE. Contact them for details on fees and such.
You’d need to find a suitable place to set up shop. Ask your local officials about zoning requirements, if any exist.
A home reloading set-up. with press, case tumbler, all the dies, and other equipment you’d need, would probably run close to $1000 to get started. A commercial operation would probably cost at least five times as much to get started, depending upon how much volume you’d want to do. Contact the equipment makers for more accurate answers.

I know that to be an FFL you need to apply to the BATFE and pay the fee ( $100 ?). But you need a place to operate your business. If you’re going to do it from your home you may need to check you’re local zoning ordinances about business operation. For the BATFE regulations – you need to have an ‘office’ and somewhere (lockable) to keep guns and they have to be kept separate from your own personal ones. I an waiting on my C&R FFL, but I was talking to my FFL about what all the requirements were…….
