I work in the private sector and find my work so mundaine and really boring. I have challenging projects, but they are not personally fulfilling. I am not interested in going back to school at this time. I am an entreprenuer at heart, and live in a medium size town. Please help with idea

I can tell you from experience, the first two years suck. Boring. You are paying your dues. Lucky for you, 2 years is full payment now (it was 5 years for me).
Go to a small consulting firm. You will take on a wide variety of projects that YOU want. You will also get experience doing business development (which is always helpful).

I work for L.A.county dept. of public works, maybe you should try there I haven’t heard any of the engineers complain about anything
