Do you remember the times when Apple made any kind of new product announcements and only a Apple fans and a handful of journalists cared? These days are long gone and today it is big world wide news anything from Apple and Steve. On Wednesday it was the iPad.

Apple iPad, this 9 inch big size iPhone/ iPod like device, has made first page news.

Now what has that to do with this site and me, you might wonder. Let me explain. But first do you remember the first iPhone, maybe not. No lost, as I am sure you remember the iPhone 3G world wide launch and what followed since.

Apple came late to the mobile phone market but it changed this market in may ways. The world got the iphone app store with a huge amount of applications. The iphone and the iPod thought millions of people how to use multi touch screens.

All this comes full circle for the iPad. Think about it, people know how to use multi touch screens, thanks to Apple. They know how to download applications from iTunes.

Thanks to the iTunes App Store several developers cut a good paycheck for the applications they wrote – a few even made over a million dollar.

Don’t you think could be repeated? This time only with the iPad and iBook Store? The answer is: Yes. Apple is set to repeat what it did with the iTunes music store and the Apple App Store. Now it is the Apple iBook Store.

As entrepreneur this is exciting news. Imagine you can get into the iBook Store once it is open with something you put together for the iPad. It could be an application or an electronic book like an info product.

Think you make it into the iBook Store with your product and people download it onto their iPad and you get paid… right, it feels good.

Even so you are not going this root, the iPad might hold other opportunities for you. Right now as you read, people already getting email with asking them to do something in exchange for the chance to win an iPad that will be shipped to them once it is out on the market.

Think about all the accessories that will designed and sold. All this is a great opportunity for you as entrepreneur and small business owner, no matter if you do your business online or offline and no matter where you are.

The iPad can be carried around, but will people do it, some will, like collage or university students. Having all the book on it and a few more things. Sure it will make it into the homes as a light weight device to watch video, play games, and sort the pictures from your last family trip.

Apple iPad might even make it into new professional areas, like hospitals. Used by nurse and doctors alike to have easy access to all patient data including the latest cad-scan and x-rays, as the iPad has a high resolution display.

Nothing is sure, but it can all be expected to happen. Maybe not with the first generation, but you almost can be sure that Steve Jobs will do everything to make this device a success and I am sure they already start working on iPad 2, the next generation coming Spring 2011. For now go to Apple iBook Store.

I think the book market is too niche for a big winner and nowhere near as big a market as music and games. However, for my niche – photography I could see it as a winner for showing portfolios and galleries. No multi-tasking and no full OS have put me off buying this first generation, but I think it shows promise… so fingers crossed for the next gen.

nice post. thanks.

I’m not convinced by the iPad at all. They’re pretty cool, but multitasking is a very important part of computing. It’s not such a big deal on the iPhone, but the difference between a tablet and a phone is that tablets are meant to be used more like computers, ie multitasking.

the iPad is position between a computer and a smartphone. Its not an eReader, not a laptop, nor a table PC in the way people saw previous models. Up to now table PC have been nothing else than an only touch screen computer missing a physical keyboard.
The iPad might be the same as what the first iPhone did. It changed the way people use and see smartphones. I am more and more convinced that the iPad is a market to watch and even to get active in early on. You might as well prepare and see what options you have to be a part of it.

I’ve jumped on this niche rather early. It’s definitely a gravy train waiting for passengers who jump aboard quickly.

Marshall, I believe it. Right now people just talk on the usual sites. Once you can get the iPad in the stores and the iPad Store is open, all this will change.

Make sure you position your site good in the search engines. Try to get a high position, write good content for your site and that is pointing to your site.
